Indian Navy pressed into rescue and relief action in Udugama, Kalutara

Teaming up with the Sri Lanka Navy, the crew of INS ‘Kirch’ engaged in rescue and relief efforts to assist public battered by flash floods. They joined flood relief operations in Udugama and Galapatha localities in the Kalutara District in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy yesterday (27).

Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Kirch’ arrived at the Port of Colombo yesterday (27) to assist the ongoing disaster relief efforts for the communities affected by the extreme weather in Sri Lanka. Further, two more Indian naval ships, INS Shardul and INS Jalashwa are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka today (28) and tomorrow (29) respectively to combine with disaster relief efforts.

This noble gesture of the Indian Government, in a disaster situation, is yet another proven example for the friendly ties between the two neighbouring countries and strong mutual relationship between their navies.
