‘Naviru Saviya’ grants one million rupees as death compensation to family members of an Able Seaman
 

The Sri Lanka Navy granted one million rupees as death compensation, under the Navy's healthcare scheme, ‘Naviru Saviya,’ to the family members of Able Seaman RMA Pradeep who succumbed to an accident. The cheque in this regard was handed over to RM Sirisena (father) and KAD Lalitha (mother) of the deceased, at his residence in Dehiaththakandiya, Ampara today (June, 20).

‍The sailor joined the Navy in 2006 and had served at various establishments before his untimely death due to an accident at the age of 31. He had last served attached to the naval base SLNS Gajaba in the Mannar.

‍Naviru Saviya’ is a health care scheme, which operates as a non-public fund under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Navy. It provides financial assistance to its members and their families during death, critical illness, permanent and partial disability, general illness, surgery and medical tests.
