Navy arrests 8 more Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters.
 

Eight (8) more Indian fishing poachers and two (2) bottom trawlers were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy Fast Attack Crafts, in the Sri Lankan territorial waters, 12.2 Nm off Delft Island and 15.8 Nm off Kovilan Point yesterday evening (24, June).

Accordingly, 2 SLN patrol crafts attached to the Northern Naval Command, whilst on routine patrol, has apprehended the Indian poachers and trawlers for engaging in unauthorised bottom trawling in Sri Lankan territorial waters.

Upon bringing the apprehended Indian fishermen, fishing trawler and other fishing gear to the naval base SLNS Uththara in Kankesanthurei, they are to be handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Fisheries Director for further legal action.
