Commander of the Navy attends inauguration of Flood Control and Water Management Data Centre in Narahenpita
 

Minister of Megapolis & Western Development, Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka yesterday (June, 29) inaugurated work on the Flood Control and Water Management Data Centre, a project of Sri Lanka Land Reclamation & Development Corporation, at Kirimandala Mawatha, Narahenpita. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne also attended this occasion.

The facility on which Rs 400 million to be incurred, is expected to complete its construction work at the end of December this year. The new centre which will be of special significance, would obtain weather forecast, analysis, and disaster forewarning for the safety of the community. Accordingly, the initiative is an essential prerequisite to avert significant loss of lives and property in disaster situations.

The occasion was also attended by Venerable Maha Sangha, Deputy Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Harsha de Silva, Chairman of Land Reclamation & Development Corporation (LRDC), Mr. Asela Iddawela, officials from the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development and LRDC with several senior naval officers.
