Navy grants one million rupees as death compensation to family members of Engineering Mechanic HMUS Bandara
 

The Sri Lanka Navy donated one million rupees as death compensation, under the Navy's healthcare scheme, "Naviru Saviya," to the family members of Engineering Mechanic HMUS Bandarawho succumbed to a vehicle accident. The cheque in this regard was handed over to Mr. HM Rathnayaka Bandara, the father of the sailor, at his residence in Pothuhera, Kurunegala yesterday (July, 06).

The sailor joined the Navy in 2014 and had served at various establishments before his untimely death due to an accident at the age of 25. He had last served attached to the flag ship of the Navy, SLNS Sayura.

 "Naviru Saviya" is a health care scheme, which operates as a non-public fund under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Navy. It provides financial assistance to its members and their families during death, critical illness, permanent and partial disability, general illness, surgery and medical tests.
