Rear Admiral Rohitha Premasiri retires from an illustrious naval career
 

Rear Admiral Rohitha Premasiri who held office as the Director General Engineering bade farewell to his 35 years of illustrious naval career today (July, 11). Upon calling on the Commander of Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the outgoing senior officer was accorded with a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions.

Subsequently, the retiring senior officer was flanked to the doorway of the Naval Headquarters in a customary vehicle fleet and the fellow naval officers bade fitting farewell to the retiring senior officer who rendered a noble service to the Navy throughout his naval career.

Rear Admiral Rohitha Premasiri joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1982 as an Officer Cadet of the 11th Intake and performed an exceptional service in the Navy holding a number of key appointments during his unblemished period of service. Some of the major appointments he held during his illustrious naval career included; Director Marine Engineering, Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (East) and Director Automobile Engineering. Besides, he performed duty as the Director General Engineering attached to the Naval Headquarters over a period of one year.
