Navy apprehends 5 suspects having artefacts with archeological value
 

Following an intelligence tip-off to the Navy, naval personnel attached to the Western Naval Command in coordination with the officials of Walana Anti-Corruption Unit apprehended 5 suspects for having artefacts with archeological value. The apprehension was made in the locality of Veyangoda today (July, 25) when the collection of items was made ready for trade.

Among the artefacts taken into custody along with the suspects were; 02 statues, a pair of swan couples and 02 lion-poses of high-value. The suspects engaged in the racket were identified as residents of Hanwella, Negombo, Watinapaha and Maththamagoda regions.

The arrested persons together with the collection of artefacts were handed over to the Minuwangoda Police for further legal action.
