Navy renders assistance to transfer critically ill fisherman ashore for prompt treatment
 

Fast Attack Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command rendered assistance to transfer a critically ill fisherman, aboard a multiday fishing trawler, ashore for prompt medical treatment today (July, 28).

This multiday fishing trawler had gone for fishing from the Kudawella fisheries harbour on 25th July and the fisherman onboard suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Upon information disseminated by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources over this incident, the Navy dispatched P 411 Fast Attack Craft to bring back the patient ashore.

Accordingly, the patient was safely transferred to the naval craft in the seas, about 37 nm off Hambantota Lighthouse and brought to the Hambantota harbour. Subsequently, he was rushed to the Hambantota District Hospital for further treatment.
