Commander of the Navy declares open several facilities at SLNS Vidura, Sampur
 

The Commander of Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne declared open several facilities at the naval base, SLNS Vidura in Sampur, Trincomalee today (July, 29). Accordingly, the Wardroom, messes for the senior and junior sailors and an administrative complex were ceremonially opened to make sure effective and efficient function of the establishment.

Besides, a dedicated four-storeyed administrative building for SLN Marine Battalion which was formed following a concept of the Commander of the Navy, was also declared open on this occasion, for the convenience of the Marines in terms of their training and administration. Henceforth, the training and administrative affairs of Marine Battalion will be executed from SLNS Vidura. Speaking on the occasion, Commander of the Navy appreciated the praiseworthy efforts of the naval personnel who contributed in various construction stages of these facilities.

The occasion was also attended by Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Travis Sinniah, Secretary to Commander of the Navy and Director General Budget and Finance, Rear Admiral Udaya Hettiarachchi, Director Naval Land Operations, Commodore UI Serasinghe, Commanding Officer of the Marine Battalion, Commander Indika Wijerathna and a host of officers from the Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark the significance of this occasion.
