Almsgiving to Maha Sangha held at ENC Headquarters under the patronage of Navy Commander
 

An almsgiving to the Maha Sangha was held at the Eastern Naval Command Wardroom under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah today (27th August 2017). The wife of the Navy Commander, Mrs. Thiruni Sinniah and a large number of naval personnel including the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena and the Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera also participated in the meritorious act clad in white.

The almsgiving had been organized in order to invoke blessings of the noble Triple Gem on the new Navy Commander and all naval personnel. Accordingly, midday alms were offered to 61 members of the Maha Sangha that included the Chief Incumbent of the Rangiri Ulpatha Purana Raja Maha Viharaya and Uppuweli Dharmavijaya Centre and Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Sri Saddharmavansha Maha Nikaya, the Most Venerable Ahungalle Sri Seela Vishuddhi Thera, the Chief Incumbent of Maligawatte Sri Sambodhi Rajaramaya and Walallawita Sri Suwisuddharamaya, Adviser to the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Venerable Uwatenne Sumana Thera and the Chief Incumbent of the Jayasumanaramaya and Patron of the ENC Buddhist Association, Venerable Gnanakitti Thera of Trincomalee.
