Cooperation Afloat Readiness & Training (CARAT) Exercise begins tomorrow in Trincomalee

The 23rd Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Exercise – 2017 is scheduled to commence tomorrow (02 October 2017) in Trincomalee. The annual exercise, held for the first time in Sri Lanka, is conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy and the US Pacific Fleet from 02nd to 06th October.

CARAT is a premier naval engagement which addresses shared maritime security priorities, enhances interoperability among participating forces, and develops sustained naval partnership with nations across South and Southeast Asia. It is aimed at building trust and creating strong relationships, thus paving the way for increased readiness and interoperability that allows partner nations to work closely with navies across the region and enhance cooperative maritime security.

CARAT series began in 1995 and it has continuously increased into a complex series of training exercises in ashore, at sea and in the air.
