SLNS Mahanaga celebrates its 04th anniversary
 

SLNS Mahanaga of the South Eastern Naval Command celebrates its 04th anniversary today (31 October 2017). A series of programmes have been organized in accordance with naval traditions in view of the anniversary celebrations.

Accordingly, the Commanding Officer of SLNS Mahanaga, Captain Sisira Dissanayake made a division inspection and addressed the ship’s complement on 28th October. It was followed by all ranks and rates dinner traditionally known as Barakana. A colourful musical show is scheduled to be held this evening as part of the celebrations.

In view of the 04th Mahanaga Day, a series of community welfare and religious events have also been organized by the ship’s complement. Accordingly, cleaning of the Panama base hospital premises was carried out by a team of 25 naval personnel on 18th October. A special Bodhi pooja was also conducted at the Bodhirukkharama temple in Panama invoking blessings on the Navy. With a view to enhance the camaraderie of its naval personnel, friendly inter-department softball cricket and basketball tournaments had also been conducted by SLNS Mahanaga located in Panama.
