Commander of the Navy pays homage to historic Buddhist temples in Anuradhapura
 

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe and Mrs. Sandya Ranasinghe paid homage to several historic Buddhist temples in the sacred city of Anuradhapura yesterday (08th November). Accordingly, they first called on the Anuradhapura Atamasthanadipathi and Chief Sanghanayake of the North Central Province of the Malwattte Maha Vihara Chapter of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya, the Venerable Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera.

The Commander of the Navy inquired into the well-being of the Thera and offered him Ata Pirikara on this occasion. Subsequently, they arrived at the Uda Maluwa and paid homage to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, where Seth Pirith was chanted invoking blessings on the Navy Commander and the entire Navy.

Next, the Commander of the Navy and accompanying members arrived at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya temple, Mirisawetiya temple and Jayanthi Raja Maha Viharaya in Anuradhapura and received blessings from the Chief Prelates of the respective temples. Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Merrill Wickremasinghe and a host of senior naval officers were also present on this occasion.
