Three hundred and eighty three recruit sailors of 230th regular intake pass out in Poonewa
 

Three hundred and eighty three (383) naval recruits belonging to the 230th regular intake of the Sri Lanka Navy passed out at SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa yesterday (02 December). The Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rasika Dissanayake graced the passing out ceremony as the Chief Guest and took the salute.

Members of the Maha Sanga and religious dignitaries of other faiths, Acting Commandant & Training Commander Sri Lanka Naval Ship Shiksha, Commander (NP) Vajira Abeyrathe,  senior naval officers of the Navy Headquarters and the North Central Naval Command, senior officers from the sister services and Police, and parents of the sailors who passed out were also present on the occasion.

At the end of the colorful parade, trophies were awarded to those who were outstanding in various disciplines during basic training. Recruit SC Bandara was adjudged the Best Recruit of the 230th regular intake and Recruit SM Wijesinghe secured the award for the Recruit with the Highest Aggregate in all subjects. Meanwhile, Recruit DMSD Dunusinghe won the award for the Best Marksman and Recruit GTPT Wijesinghe won the trophy for Best Sportsman.
