Table Top Exercise 2017 held in Trincomalee
 

Annual Table Top Exercise (TTX 2017) organized by the Naval Fleet Command was held at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 11th and 12th December for the second consecutive year under the theme “Together for Safer Seas” with the participation of 10 stake holders. The aim of TTX 2017 was to provide participants an opportunity to understand each other in order to respond to varies contingencies together as partners, honing coordination, integration of capabilities, problem identification and resolution. Eradicating the drug menace from the country, improve preparedness for an array of terrorist attacks including sea borne attacks, chemical release, bombings of every size and countenance any other disastrous situation occur as a result of oil spillage, mass scale fire etc, were the concerned contingencies during the two day exercise.

Representatives from Sri Lanka Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Special Task Force, Police Narcotic Bureau, Disaster Management Centre, Marine Environment Protection Authority, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Sri Lanka Customs attended the event. On the opening day the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera made a presentation and experts from Attorney General Department, Police Narcotic Bureau and Disaster Management Center enlightened the participants by delivering fertile lectures on concerned contingencies on the first day, and the second day exercise was held by discussing solutions for hypothetical situations connected to concern contingencies.
