Sri Lanka Navy assists National Oil Spill Combat Exercise (SPILLEX 2017)
 

Continuing her responsibility on the imperative matters of Maritime affairs, Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance in the National Oil Spill Combat Exercise (SPILLEX 2017) which was organized by Marine Environment Protection Authority, at the seas off Colombo harbour and the Galle Face, on 14th and 15th December.

This exercise was carried out to rehearse and test the capabilities of the stake holders who are responsible to act during an oil spill as per the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan. The Navy team engaged in the exercise on both days, was comprised of 70 naval personnel including two Fast Attack Craft, an Inshore Patrol Craft, Fire Fighting Team and a Search & Rescue Team.

Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Police, National Aquatic Resources Agency, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Ceylon Petroleum Cooperation, Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd. and other responsible organizations also participated in the exercise.
