Defence Secretary visits Eastern Naval Command
 

The Secretary to the Minister of Defence, Mr.Kapila Waidyaratne PC together with madam Waidyarathna who arrived in Trincomalee yesterday (18 December) to grace the Midshipmen’s Commissioning Parade which is scheduled to be held at the Naval and Maritime Academy this evening, took time off to pay a visit at the Eastern Naval Command. Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe was also present on this occasion.

The Defence Secretary first made an inspection tour in the sea area off Trincomalee harbour, on board a Fast Attack Craft. Prior to the comprehensive briefing of the Commander Eastern Naval Command, he planted a sapling in the Navy House premises to signify his visit. Subsequently, he left his remarks in the Visitors' Book as well. Further, to mark this visit, the Defence Secretary was presented with a memento by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena.

Meanwhile, the Hon. Secretary toured some of the significant sites in the Naval Dockyard including the DSS, Operations Room and Naval Museum. Finally, his graceful presence was seen at the Commissioning Parade, as its Chief Guest. Heads of Departments, senior naval officers and Commanding Officers of ships and establishments attached to the Eastern Naval Command also attended these events.
