Forty senior sailors provided interest free loans
 

Sri Lanka Navy granted interest free loans worth Rs. 500,000 each to 40 senior sailors today (26 December). The simple ceremony held at the Naval Headquarters to handover the cheques in this regard was presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe. The occasion was also attended by the Naval Secretary & Secretary to the Commander of the Navy, Commodore Vijitha Meddegoda, and the Manager of the Naval Benefit Foundation, Lieutenant Commander KM Dayananda.

This welfare initiative was mooted to recognize the contributions of long serving senior sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, a total of 1,151 senior sailors have been granted interest free loans till date, with a sum of Rs. 576.2 million. The Navy is determined to grant this financial support to yet another 4,026 senior sailors in due course.
