Commander of the Navy pays homage to Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in the New Year
 

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe together with Mrs. Sandya Ranasinghe paid homage to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura today (01 January). They invoked the blessings of the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi on the Navy and entire nation on this special day that marked the first day of year 2018 and Duruthu Poya. Venerable Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith and transferred blessings on the Commander of the Navy, all naval personnel and the entire nation.

Thereupon, the Navy Commander paid homage to several Buddhist temples in the sacred city of Anuradhapura, including the Ruwanwelisaya. As part of this visit, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe laid the foundation stone for the proposed two story building dedicated for the 'Dharma Parami Arakshaka Sena Sanghawasa’ and Meditation Centre. The events were also attended by senior naval officers, sailor and a large number of devotees.
