Navy renders assistance to bring ill fisherman ashore
 

Based on information conferred by Sri Lanka Police, Navy rendered assistance to bring a critically ill fisherman ashore for immediate treatment yesterday (29 January).

A fisherman who went fishing from the Codbay harbour in Trincomalee on 28 January, aboard the multiday fishing trawler Danushka Putha, had fallen seriously ill due to a heart stroke out at sea.

Upon receipt of this information, Navy promptly dispatched the Fast Attack Craft P 465 attached to the Eastern Naval Command, to the sea area about 8.5 nautical miles off Foul Point. Having reached the location, the patient was safely transferred to the naval craft and brought to the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee. Subsequently, he was rushed to the Trincomalee District General Hospital for further treatment.
