Navy brings ill fisherman ashore for treatment

The Fast Attack Craft (FAC) P 485 belonging to the Eastern Naval Command rendered assistance to bring a critically ill fisherman who was aboard a multiday fishing trawler to the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee for immediate treatment yesterday (31 January).

The fishing trawler named ‘Lakpriya’ had gone fishing from the Beruwala Fisheries Harbour on 25th January and the Navy was informed of the sudden illness of one of its fishermen by the boat owner. Accordingly, the Navy dispatched an FAC patrolling in the area and got the ill fisherman transferred to the naval craft in the seas about 37 nautical miles off the Foul Point. Subsequently, he was brought to the Naval Dockyard and rushed to the Trincomalee District Hospital to receive medical attention.
