Three Direct Entry officers pass out at NMA
 

On successful completion of their 7 month theoretical and practical training, 3 naval officers of the 2nd Direct Entry Intake - 2017 passed out at the main parade ground of Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee yesterday (09 February). The passed out officers belong to the branches of Shipwright and Band of Sri Lanka Navy. The occasion was graced by the Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Kassapa Paul, as the Chef Guest.

Having received the Ceremonial Guard, the Chief Guest inspected the divisions and gave away awards to the officers for their excellent performance during training. Accordingly, Lieutenant (SW) NHR Melroy won the award for the Best Direct Entry Officer of the Intake. Lieutenant (SW) AT Sandharuwan was adjudged the Best Shooter.

Addressing the newly passed out officers and their parents, the Commandant NMA first expressed his gratitude to the beloved parents for giving their consent for the children to join Sri Lanka Navy in order to fulfill a national duty. Further, he urged the new officers who joined the naval family to accomplish their duties and responsibilities with honour and work for the betterment of the Navy. Finally, he extended his gratitude to the Directing Staff of the NMA for their dedication in moulding officers with knowledge and competence to serve the Navy.
