Navy bids farewell to Rear Admiral Lalith Ekanayake
 

Director General Health Services, Surgeon Rear Admiral Lalith Ekanayake, after 35 years of distinguished naval service, bade adieu to the Sri Lanka Navy yesterday (24 February).

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to Rear Admiral Elanayake who is celebrating his 60th birthday, yesterday. Subsequently, the retiring senior officer was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. The fellow naval officers and sailors, making a street line, bade farewell to the outgoing Director General Health Services to express their gratitude for the exceptional service rendered for the Navy. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Ekanayake was sent off mounted on a decorated vehicle amidst the cheers wishing him fair winds and following seas.

Rear Admiral Lalith Ekanayake joined the Sri Lanka Navy as a Direct Entry officer in 1982. He held a number of key appointments of the Medical Branch in the Navy, during his unblemished naval career.
