Able Seaman Indika Dissanayake wins silver at Commonwealth Games
 

Able Seaman Indika Dissanayake of Sri Lanka Navy won the first silver medal for Sri Lanka today (06 April 2018) at the 21st Commonwealth Games currently being held in Gold Coast, Australia. This victory goes down in SLN sporting history as the most notable achievement made by a naval athlete.

Able Seaman Dissanayake successfully lifted 297kg in total (137kg in snatch, 160kg in clean and jerk) in the men’s weightlifting 69kg weight category. He is a past pupil of Kingswood College, Kandy and had joined Sri Lanka Navy in 2009.
