Three hundred and seventy nine recruit sailors of 231st regular intake pass out in Poonewa
 

Three hundred and seventy nine (379) naval recruits belonging to the 231st regular intake of Sri Lanka Navy passed out at SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa yesterday (07th April). Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Muditha Gamage graced the colourful passing out ceremony as the Chief Guest and took the salute.

Members of the Maha Sanga, religious dignitaries of other faiths, Acting Commandant and Training Commander of SLNS Shiksha, Commander (NP) Sumedha Hitinayake, senior naval officers of the Navy Headquarters and North Central Naval Command, senior officers from the sister services and Police and parents of the sailors who passed out were also present on this glamorous occasion.

At the end of the colorful parade, trophies were awarded to those who were outstanding in various disciplines during basic training. Accordingly, Recruit WSS Wijerathna was adjudged the Best Recruit of the 231st regular intake and Recruit WPT Dep secured the award for the Recruit with the Highest Aggregate in all subjects. Meanwhile, Recruit LMID Wijesekara won the award for the Best Marksman and Recruit SASU Rupasinghe won the trophy for the Best Sportsman.
