Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena retires from Navy
 

Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena who previously held office as the Commander Eastern Naval Area, bade farewell to his 34-year-long illustrious naval career today (12 April 2018). Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe extended best wishes to the retiring officer before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions.

Thereupon, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer. Meanwhile, senior and junior sailors, making a street line, bade farewell to Rear Admiral Sarathsena who was sent off mounted on a decorated vehicle amidst cheers.

Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena had joined Sri Lanka Navy as an officer cadet of the 12th intake in 1984. He rendered a noble service to the Navy holding a number of key appointments including Director General Services, Commander Southern Naval Area, Director Naval Operations and Deputy Area Commander-Eastern Naval Area during his distinguished naval career.
