Sri Lanka Navy devotedly celebrates the Vesak day
 

To coincide with the National Vesak day which falls after 2562 years of Lord Buddha’s passing away Sri Lanka Navy had organized a series of religious events. Accordingly, Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone at Gangarama temple, “Kolomthota” Vesak zone at Colombo harbour premises, “Sirasa” Vesak zone and some other places around Naval bases were illuminated with charming Vesak decorations.

The Buddhist Association of Sri Lanka Navy under the leadership and guidance of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, made arrangements to decorate Vesak zones, to conduct Vesak “Bathi Gee” events, offering “Dansal” and contributed for special religious programmes in all Naval Commands in the island.

Eastern Naval Command, Western Naval Command, North Central Naval Command, Southern Naval Command, North-west Naval Command and Southeast Naval Command had also organized colourful Vesak zones including innovative and colorful Vesak lantern competitions, ‘Dansala’ and religious programmes in their respective establishments. Further, the melodious “Bathi Gee” event which had been organized by the Eastern Naval Command was praised by all presented to the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Northern Naval Command had organized a beautiful ‘Vesak Kalapaya’ in the vicinity of the Dambakolapatuna Temple. It consisted of ‘Ata Sil’ programme, allusive Dharma Deshanaya and ‘Bhodhipooja’ which were conducted by the Venerable Ariyakiththi Thero of the Nagadeepa Temple. The main objective of conducting these events was to enhance religious harmony & social détente among public in the Northern Peninsula.
