Naval War Heroes Commemorated in Welisara under the patronage of Commander of the Navy
 

In concurrent with the National War Hero Commemoration, a remembrance ceremony presided by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe was held to commemorate the naval war heroes who made supreme sacrifice for the motherland, at the War Hero Monument in Welisara, in the morning today (18 May).

During the ceremony, the Commander of the Navy offered floral tributes at the War Hero Monument as a mark of respect to the fallen war heroes and observed two-minute silence in recognition of their great sacrifices for the sovereignty and the territorial of the motherland.

Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro, Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetanna, Director Generals, senior officers from the Naval Headquarters and a host of officers and sailors from the Western Naval Command were also present on this occasion.

Further, Naval personnel from all Naval Commands, Senior Officers and other rankers representing Tri Forces, Sri Lanka Police, Civil Defence force, family members of War Heroes Killed in Action or Missing in Action and large number of civil people attended the War Hero Commemoration events organized all over the island.
