Chief Hydrographer of the Navy calls on Secretary Defence
 

The Chief Hydrographer of the Navy, Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody called on the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne PC at the Ministry of Defence on 19th July.

The Chief Hydrographer explained the Secretary Defence about the progress of hydrographic affairs of the country and involvement of the Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service, initiating to table a proposal to conduct bathymetry surveys without compromising the national security. Meanwhile, the Secretary Defence took time off to watch a short documentary that was screened, underlining the naval involvement in hydrography in the country.

The Secretary Defence highlighted the security concerns of hydrographic surveys conducted within the jurisdiction of Sri Lanka by various parties and instructed the Chief Hydrographer to device a suitable mechanism for the conduct of such surveys.

Rear Admiral Jayakody handed over two defence charts produced by Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service facilitating for defence operations and presented a memento to Secretary Defence marking this special occasion.
