Navy war heroes receive wide range of benefits from "Sathviru Abhiman Ranaviru” welfare initiative
 

The presentation of “Sathviru Abhiman Ranaviru” benefits for the welfare of retired armed forces, Police and Civil Security Force personnel was conducted under the patronage of the President, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena at the Nelum Pokuna theater on 18th October. The programme was organized by the Ministry of Defence with a view to offering a wide range of benefits in recognition of the noble service of the war heroes.

Accordingly, 64 houses under the “Meth Sewana” project, 15 fully furnished houses under the “Api Wenuwen Api” project and yet another 114 half furnished houses under the same project were handed over to naval war heroes. Besides, 02 naval personnel who are deprived of land, received land deeds to fulfill one of their long felt needs. Further, 18 children of grade 05 of naval families were awarded scholarships. Naval personnel belonging to 06 Naval Commands, making the total number of beneficiaries from the Navy 213.

 Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva and Director Generals of the Navy also joined in presentation of welfare benefits to the naval war heroes and their family members. The beneficiaries were facilitated at the event by the Directorate of Naval Welfare.         

The occasion was also attended by the State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr Kapila Waidyaratne PC, the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, the Commander of Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, a large number of senior armed force personnel and family members of the beneficiaries.
