Navy assists dousing chemical fire of shipping container at Colombo harbour
 

A team of Sri Lanka Navy Firefighters rendered assistance to completely douse a fire broke out at a shipping container, filled with Aluminium Phosphide, at the Jaya Container Terminal, Colombo harbour yesterday (23rd October). In response to the distress call, a team of firefighters attached to the Western Naval Command was promptly dispatched to the location of the incident.

Accordingly, the ever alert Navy Firefighters along with sailors of the Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence Unit managed to bring the chemical fire under control, after a strenuous effort.
