Navy brings ashore ill fisherman for immediate treatment

The Navy yesterday (28th October) rendered assistance to bring ashore a fisherman who was suffering from a severe chest pain, for immediate treatment. The fisherman had left for fishing onboard a multiday fishing trawler named ‘Ran Putha’ from the Ambalangoda fisheries harbour.

Based on information disseminated by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Navy promptly dispatched a Fast Attack Craft (FAC) attached to the Southern Naval Command to bring the critically ill fisherman. Accordingly, the fisherman was safely transferred to the naval craft at the seas about 85 nautical miles off the Galle harbour. The patient was provided immediate first aid onboard the FAC and he was rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for further treatment, having reached the shore.
