Rear Admiral Udaya Sumanasekera bids adieu to Navy
 

Director General (Naval & Air Operations) at the Office of Chief of Defence Staff, Rear Admiral Udaya Sumanasekera bade farewell to his 34-year-long illustrious naval career today (03rd November). The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to the retiring officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today.

Thereupon, Rear Admiral Sumanasekera was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. After, the fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, the senior and junior sailors, making a street line, bade farewell to Rear Admiral Sumanasekera who was sent off amidst cheers.

Rear Admiral Udaya Sumanasekera joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 12th Cadet Intake in year 1984. The outgoing officer held a number of key appointments in the Navy such as; Deputy Area Commander (South) and (Southeast), Director Naval (Weapon), Director Naval (Administration), Director, Commercial Explosive Fire Arms and Procurement during his naval career.
