Navy reaches out to assist flood victims at Kalmunai
 

Naval personnel belonging the Southeastern Naval Command reached out to assist the flood victims of Thirawanthiyanmadu in Kalmunai, trapped in the area without a mode of transportation, following the heavy downpour prevailed during the last couple of days.

 Due to heavy rains, the road leading to the village of Thirawanthiyanmadu had been inundated on 09th November. Under the directives of Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera, relief teams attached to the Southeastern Naval Command were pressed into action and they transferred the distressed people from Kittanki to Naval Deployment Kalmunai using dinghies. The prompt action of the naval personnel also received high praise from the community in the region.
