Navy brings ill fisherman ashore for immediate treatment
 

Sri Lanka Navy yesterday (01st December) brought ashore a fisherman onboard a multi-day fishing trawler for immediate treatment. The fisherman had left for fishing by the trawler ‘Shan Puthu II’ from the Galle fisheries harbour on 27th November and complained of a severe chest pain while at sea.

Based on information disseminated by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Navy promptly dispatched a Fast Attack Craft (FAC) attached to the Southern Naval Command to bring the ill fisherman. Accordingly, the fisherman was safely transferred to the naval craft at the seas about 29.5 nautical miles off the Hambantota harbour. The patient was provided immediate first aid onboard the FAC and he was subsequently rushed to the District General Hospital Hambantota for further treatment.
