Navy bids farewell to Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe
 

His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Maithripala Sirisena promoted the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe to the rank of Admiral with effect from 31st December 2018. Subsequent to the promotion, the Admiral retired from the service today (01st January 2019), on completion of 36 years of distinguished naval career.

Admiral Ranasinghe was accorded a 48 member Guard of Honour at the Naval Headquarters prior to his departure and the outgoing Admiral was congratulated by the Director Generals of the Navy and senior naval officers for his noble service rendered to the organization.

Besides, Admiral Ranasinghe officially handed over the duties of the Commander of Navy to his successor, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva today. Subsequently, Admiral Ranasinghe was sent off in accordance with naval traditions, mounted on a decorated vehicle amidst the cheers wishing him fair winds and following seas.
