Search and Rescue Swift Water Training Programme makes headway with further practical exercises
 

The Swift Water Training Programme got underway on 16th January 2019 and its practical exercises were held at the Kala Oya estuary during the last couple of days. The final exercise of the programme is scheduled to be held at the Rapid Action Boat Squadron’s Headquarters (RABS HQ) on 23rd of this month.

Accordingly, the last two days of exercise saw trainees engaged in river crossing, water flow technique and safety precaution, swift water rubber boat operation, swift water crossing, swift water rescue, single crossing, multi – person crossing, victim protection with safety crossing, rope skill application and setting, night swimming in swift water and camp fire, improving their theoretical and practical knowledge on those fields. The trainees took part in the training exercise with great enthusiasm as it turned out to be a whole new experience to them.
