Navy apprehends two persons with over 11kg of gold
 

A troop of Naval personnel attached to North Western Naval Command apprehended two persons who were transferring a haul of gold weighing over 11 kg, by sea route illegally, during a patrol carried out in Kudawa sea area in Kalpitiya, today(2 February).

The apprehended suspects are 33 and 29 years old residents of Kudawa area in Kalpitiya. A dinghy used for transferring gold was also taken into naval custody. Subsequently, the suspects, apprehended gold, the dinghy and other equipment were handed over to Sri Lanka Customs in Colombo, for legal action.

As a result of continuous naval raids, over 62 kg of gold have seized during the last year.Sri Lanka Navy is vigilant over the clock to avert all illegal rackets along the coastal line.
