Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Rasika Dissanayake
 

Sri Lanka Navy today (04th February) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Rasika Dissanayake who held office as Director General Training. Accordingly, the senior officer relinquished his naval duties what he was attached to over the last 34 years.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to the retiring officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Dissanayake was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. After the fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, the senior and junior sailors making a street line bade farewell to Rear Admiral Dissanayake who was sent off amidst cheers.

Rear Admiral Rasika Dissanayake joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 13th Cadet Intake in year 1985. The outgoing officer held a number of key appointments in the Navy such as; Director General Administration, Director General Personnel, Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Deputy Area Commander (East), Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet and Director Naval Personnel during his distinguished naval career.
