HADR exchange programme at RABS HQ

A joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exchange programme, combined with INDO-Pacific Endeavour 2019 was conducted at the Rapid Action Boats Squadron’s Headquarters (RABS HQ) of Gangewadiya, Eluvankulama, Puttalam yesterday (27th March). This programme was conducted by Commanding Officer RABS HQ, Lieutenant Commander Duminda Dayananda, following the directives of Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle. Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Australian Defence Force personnel, representatives from the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka, members of tri-services and Police as well as representatives of government institutes were also present on this occasion.

During the programme, personnel attached to the Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) conducted demonstrations and shared expertise relevant to the field of Disaster Management. The programme was conducted in two stages, namely the Flood Simulator Exercise and Landslide Simulator Exercise. Australian Defence Force Personnel also took part in certain training activities with 4RU personnel.
