Navy performs the traditional Oil Anointing ritual for New Year

In concurrent with the national ceremony for Oil Anointing ritual, traditional Oil Anointing was performed in naval bases, yesterday (17th April).

Under the directives of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, Oil Anointing ritual was held at every naval ship, craft and establishment in all Naval Commands. Accordingly, an Oil Anointing ceremony was conducted at Western Naval Command HQ under the patronage of Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna.

Venerable Vanarathana Thero of Kanduboda Vipassana Meditation Centre performed the Oil Anointing ritual and this occasion was attended by officers and sailors attached to WNC Headquarters.
