Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera assumes duties as Commander Northern Naval Area
Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera assumed duties as the Commander Northern Naval Area at the NNC Headquarters, today (28th) May.
His predecessor, Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe formally handed over the duties of the position to Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera at the Northern Naval Command HQ located at SLNS Uththara.
The incoming Area Commander was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received to the Northern Naval Command and a similar formation followed suit to honour Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe after he was congratulated by fellow officers of the Northern Naval Command. Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe is due to take over the Eastern Naval Command as the Area Commander.
