RO plant declared open for the use of children of Paranagama Weva Vidyalaya in Welioya

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva declared open a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant at Paranagama Weva Vidyalaya in Welioya on 23rd June 2019.

The occasion was attend by Director General Health Services, Surgeon Rear Admiral Sena Rupa Jayawardana, Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Merril Wickramasinghe, Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Muditha Gamage, senior officers, the Principal and staff members, school children and their parents.

The RO system installed making use of the Navy’s manpower and funds will provide safe drinking water to the children of Paranagama Weva Vidyalaya in Welioya hereafter.

Following the visionary concept of the President His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, the Sri Lanka Navy has set up a large number of RO plants in a number of districts of the country, with the sponsorship of the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease and philanthropists.

Accordingly, the Navy partnering with the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease, is determined to install more RO plants in areas where high prevalence of kidney disease is recorded.
