Navy extend hospitality to devotees of Kataragama foot pilgrimage

Sri Lanka Navy has taken necessary measures to provide its warm hospitality to the devotees who keep on walking in the traditional foot pilgrimage (Pada Yathra) from Northern and Eastern Provinces to Kataragama Devalaya.

Accordingly, under the directives of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, naval personnel attached to SLNS Mahanaga in Panama, guided by the Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Noyel Kalubowila, looked into the facilities of the pilgrims. The naval hospitality extension initiated today (27thJune).

Further, devotees who worshiped the Mugugan Devalaya at Okanda in the morning today, restarted the walk through Kumana National Park towards Katharagama. This occasion was attended by ministers, government officials and large number of senior and junior officers attached to the Southeastern Naval Command.

As a gesture of Navy’s generosity, the pilgrims who were engaging in a strenuous journey across the country were provided with all necessary facilities including bottles of drinking water, food, dry ration, sanitary facilities and medical facilities.
