SLCOMM organizes workshop on Diving Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine

The Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine(SLCOMM) held a guest lecture and workshop on Diving Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine for Medical Professionals at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium today (28th June 2019).

The guest lecture was delivered by Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva on "Introduction to Diving, Diving Operations and Mitigating Diving Ailments". The audience was educated on different aspects of diving and a case presentation done was an eye opener to realize the importance of diving injury prevention. The lecture sequence followed with an eminent resource panel-consisting diving specialized medical officers in the Sri Lanka Navy.

The second lecture was done by Dr.Malik Fernando, a senior retired medical officer who is also a diver with a vast experience in marine animals . His lecture was on Venomous Marine Animals :Treatment and Management which was also very interesting.

Director General Health Services (DGHS) of the Army, Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe, DGHS of the Navy, Surgeon Rear Admiral Sena Rupa Jayawardena, Director Health Services of the Air Force, Vice Marshall Lalith Jayaweera, Director General Training, Rear Admiral Nandana Jayarathne, Surgeon Rear Admiral Lalith Ekanayake (Rtd) and a host of senior offices from the tri services were present on this occasion.
