Naval Detachment ‘Maho’declared as Naval Deployment ‘Maho’

Naval Detachment ‘Maho’ was declared as Naval Deployment ‘Maho’ by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, on 30th June 2019.

After being declared Naval Detachment ‘Maho’ as Naval Deployment ‘Maho’ the Commander of the Navy paid a visit inside the Deployment premises and planted a sapling to mark this occasion. Naval Detachment Maho’ was established on 5th April 2008 and at present Naval training are conducted there. An agricultural project is also being maintained at the ND.

Addressing the Naval personnel the Commander of the Navy mentioned that the Deployment is expected to be used as a training centre for Bomb Disposal and the basic knowledge on bomb disposal is required for a service person. Further, he mentioned that it is very important to identify the kinds of explosives which has been a threat to the national security. The Commander of the Navy further added, this training institute which would be utilized to carry out training related to the identifying of explosive, will be a asset for the Navy and Sri Lanka as well.

Commander North Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera, Commanding Officer Naval Deployment ‘Maho’ Commander Lalith Kumara, Department Heads of North Western Naval Command and number of senior and junior officers were also present on this occasion.
