Navy assists to bring an injured fisherman ashore

Sri Lanka Navy brought a severely injured fisherman ashore for medical treatment on 11th July 2019.

A fisherman onboard multiday fishing trawler “Thanuja Duwa III” which had left Galle fisheries harbour on last 5th July, had severely injured by falling down while attempting to get on to another boat. Having received information of this incident through Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Sri Lanka Navy promptly dispatched a Fast Attack Craft(FAC) attached to the Southern Naval Command for the rescue mission.

Accordingly, the patient was taken safely onboard the FAC at the seas 121 nautical miles off the Hambanthota Fisheries harbour and then administering first aids he was transferred to Hambanthota harbour. Thereafter, the patient was rushed to the General Hospital-Hambanthota for further treatment. After examining the patient the doctors confirmed that he had died.
