Navy held two drug traffickers

Naval personnel in coordination with SL Police apprehended two persons with 9.590kg of Kerala Cannabis during a raid carried out at area in Jaffna on 14th July 2019.

Accordingly, Naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command in coordination with officers of Illavale Police apprehended the two suspects along with this haul of KG which was inside a house at Pandatharippu area. Further search revealed that the suspects are drug traffickers in the area.

The apprehended suspects are residents of Pandatharippu and Madagal areas aged 45 and 63. Illavale Police conducts further investigation on the suspects and the KG.

In addition, during a similar raid carried out on 10th July 2019 at Madagal area in Jaffna, four racketeers who engaged in illegal activities, were held by the Navy. Contributing the national effort in eradicating the drug menace from the country, Sri Lanka Navy conducts frequent operations under the directives of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.
