Fifty (50) senior sailors receive interest free loans

Sri Lanka Navy granted interest free loans worth Rs. 500,000 each to another Fifty (50) senior sailors during a simple ceremony presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva at the Naval Headquarters today (22nd July). The financial allocation of Rs. 25 million utilized for the above purpose was provided by the Naval Benefit Fund.

This welfare initiative was mooted to recognize the contributions of long serving senior sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, a total of 2336 senior sailors have been granted interest free loans till date. The Navy is making necessary arrangements to offer this financial support to yet another 2494 senior sailors in due course.

The occasion was also attended by the Manager of Naval Benefit Fund, Lieutenant Commander KM Dayananda
