Two drug traffickers held Navy in Hambantota

During a search conducted by the Navy and STF in Siribopura area, Hambantota today (28th July), 02 drug traffickers were held with crystal methamphetamine (ice) and hashish.

Naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command, during a raid conducted with the officials of Panwewa STF apprehended these 02 suspects with 08 packets containing 860mg of ice and another 02 packets containing 360mg of hashish, in Siribopura area. The apprehension was made while the suspects were selling drugs. Further investigation revealed that they are drug traffickers in the region.

The two suspects have been identified as residents of the same locality, aged 19 and 22. The suspects along with seized substances were handed over to the Hambantota Police for onward legal action.

Contributing to the national effort in eradicating of drug menace from the country, Sri Lanka Navy conducts frequent operations under the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. Accordingly, the Navy was able to have the law on a number of drug traffickers in recent times.
